Why Is There So Much Chemical Based Skin Care On the Market?A lot of main stream or mass produced
skin care and shampoo is made with chemical detergents and petrochemicals. Petrochemicals
are such ingredients as fragrances, mineral oil, alcohol and synthetic preservatives.
Although a lot of these particles are too large to penetrate the skin, they can
result in Allergies and health problems. Increasing use of Sodium Laural sulfate
(SLS) in skin care can cause major skin irritations and has even been shown to
even be fatal. Studies show that chemicals like this clog the skin pores and do not
have any benefit to the skin. Below is a brief description of some of the most
common chemicals used in Modern day Skin Care and Hair Care products. Decide for
yourself whether you want to continue using them. All of these common Chemicals
have raised health concerns around the Planet and in the industry. We supply no
skin care or body care that contains these.
Chemical SulphatesSulphates
are used as cleansing ingredients in shampoos and shower
gels due to their low cost and strong cleansing power,
sulphates can irritate the skin, especially for
sensitive skin. Sodium Commonly used forms are Sodium
Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) or Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate. Sodium
Lauryl Sulfate has been linked to Cancer on a number of
Studies. Chemical Preservatives Chemical preservatives
are used in most cosmetic products to extend the shelf
life of the products. However, many such preservatives
are skin irritants. Commonly used preservatives include
formaldehyde, methylisothiazolinones and DMDM
hydantonin. Natural Skin care and Hair care products
rely on the properties of natural ingredients such as
Vitamin E, grapefruit seed extract, honey and Sandalwood
essential oil. Although they have a shorter shelf life
compared to most chemical Skin care and Body care, you
will and your skin will benefit from the many skin
nourishing qualities of these
ingredients.
Chemical Propylene GlycolChemical
Propylene glycol is a petro chemical derived humectant.
It should be avoided by those with sensitive skin, it is
a primary irritant.
Ethoxylates and
DioxaneEthoxylates
and Dioxane Ethoxylates are ingredients used in most
personal care products, cleansers, lotions, and creams
including shampoos, hair conditioners. They have been
shown to contain the impurity 1.4 dioxane, which is a
known toxin and carcinogen that can be absorbed through
the skin (cancer forming). Ethoxylates are unstable and
have been shown to break down in strong sunlight to form
free radicals, in turn damaging the skin. The most used
Ethoxylates are sodium laureth sulfates (SLES), the
polysorbates and PEGs.
NitrosamineA major concern within the cosmetic industry is
Nitrosamines. Nitrosamines are formed by pollutant by
products in a number of cosmetic raw chemical
ingredients. Nitrosamines are commonly used in soaps,
shampoos and shower gels as a foam boosting agent and
surfactant (cleansing agent). Nitrosamines are toxic and
carcinogenic (cancer forming)
Artificial Fragrances
Synthetic
fragrance are found in ingredient lists as the term
fragrance. They cause a lot of allergic reactions and
